Fuel shortage hits hard Education Institute in Kathmandu Valley

The fuel shortage has badly affected schools/colleges in the Kathmandu Valley since the past few days. The attendance at schools has also declined as fewer vehicles are plying on the roads due to government's directive to operate vehicles on alternate days to lessen the impact of fuel crises.

The school buses have not been able to secure adequate petroleum products as promised, resulting in difficulty to transport students.According to Ramesh Silwal, Vice-Chairperson of the Higher Secondary School's Association- Nepal (HISSAN),  the government announced to provide 20 liters of petrol to each school vehicle, it is not clear where the fuel will be provided. they have requested the Ministry of Home Affairs to facilitate the refueling of the school,  he added.

Recently, Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) on Tuesday has sent a letter to the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), country's sole petroleum products provider, demanding clarification for not refilling 151 oil tankers from four customs. If the problems not solved, situation comes to close schools and colleges in few days.
